Marine Fest - Meet the Scientist: Herrings From Space with Phil Taylor

Phil Taylor is Director of Open Seas, a charity working in Scotland to improve the health of the seas and the sustainability of fishing. Phil has been working in wildlife conservation since his teens and has been involved in marine policy at a Scottish, UK and International level for 12 years.

In this informal, online talk Phil will cover the history of Scotland's seas, their present day status and the work of Open Seas and its collaborative projects seeking to improve them, including campaigning on seafood unsustainability, taking legal action and investigating illegal fishing. He'll also talk about the need to protect the area where herring have spawned, so vast it was spotted from space.

This event is FREE, but numbers are limited.

This is a 1 hour online session and will include a Q&A after the talk.

A Zoom link, full joining instructions and information about the event will be shared via email the day before the event. Please register to join us.

  • This event has been rescheduled from Monday 10 June to Monday 17 June at 7pm.
