Marine Fest - Marine Explorers

Fun and Informative Talks for all the Family

About this event

Join us for an afternoon of discovery! Meet our passionate Conservation Team for a series of 3 informal, interactive and informative chats about the marine environment, suitable for all the family.

  • Pollution Explorers (13:00 - 13:30) - Unwrap the problem that is marine pollution with Conservation Officer Emma Marriott. Uncover the kinds of litter that lurk along our coasts and throughout the world's oceans, the impact it is having on the environment and the easy things you can do to take action for nature!
  • Seabird Explorers (14:00 - 14:30) - Dive into the watery world of Scotland's seabirds with our Discovery Team. Discover the amazing skills and adaptations that allow seabirds to thrive in these wild and wonderful environments and why they're so important!
  • Seagrass Explorers (15:00 - 15:30) - Seagrass is making a comeback in the Firth of Forth with the help of Seagrass Officer Eleri Williams! Join Eleri to find out why these small plants are so hugely beneficial to marine environments and how you can be an active part of their restoration.

These in-person talks will last 30 minutes each and are part of our MarineFest programme on World Oceans day. They are perfect for curious kids and nature enthusiasts of all ages who are interested in finding out more about these topics and how to get involved.

Children must be accompanied by adults. We cannot allow drop-offs.

These talks are free and spaces are limited, so if you book a ticket but can no longer attend, please let us know so that we can offer your space to someone else. We would be very grateful for donations on the day, which will go towards supporting our conservation and education work.

The talk will take place in our marquee outside the Scottish Seabird Centre, which is wheelchair accessible. If you have other accessibility requirements, please let us know and we'll do our best to help. You can email the team at conservationprojects@seabird.org.
